Last month I went to the swish new Michael Kors offices in London to check out the Autumn/ Winter 2013 collections in the flesh. With a more sporty, masculine aesthetic than normal, the collection features taped seams, quilted sleeves, technical fabrics, mesh and leather panelling, chunky zips and camouflage print in a utilitarian palette of black, grey, khaki, white, cobalt blue and high vis orange. The oversized bright blue jacket with black fur hood was my favourite, albeit slightly ridiculous, piece. Fashion is supposed to be fun after all.
As usual, the accessories were strong, with block colour leather handbags and sleek pointy shoes with perforated leather, jagged soles and elasticated straps standing out.
The MICHAEL Michael Kors line featured stylish, wearable pieces appropriate for the office (my go-to Michael Kors work dresses), evening or weekend and some pieces, like the ruched drape bright blue dress, are smart and versatile enough for women any age to wear.
