One of my favourite things about summer is barbecues. All summer long, please. I have a roof terrace so fire up my BBQ and invite friends round as often as possible, while the warm weather lasts.
I take all my crockery (mismatched, of course, I don't have more than six multiples of anything in my kitchen) outside, mix up some Pimms, fill the fridge with Cotes-de-Provence rosé and chilled Chablis, get making a salad, seasoned chicken drumsticks and my favourite chicken, pepper, mushroom and halloumi skewers and let the boys do the sausages and burgers.
obligatory Pimms
BBQ essentials also include wild flowers in jam jars and coloured glass vases, stripy straws, dozens of candles, lanterns and tea light votives, all your chairs brought out into the garden, a pre-planned summer playlist and blankets for later. Long live the barbecue season.
