It was announced this week that Barbara Hulanicki is returning to Biba, the iconic label she created in the 1960s, which first saw success as part of the huge Swinging Sixties scene in London. The fashion designer telling the Sunday Times "I've got Biba flowing through my veins" and fans of the iconic Biba look rejoiced.
House of Fraser bought the rights to the brand in 2009 and the 78 year old Polish-born designer complained about the British department store's new pricing, which hopefully means that her capsule collection in Autumn 2015 will be cheaper than the current House of Fraser line (which I blogged about here). In its heyday, the brand was affordable, accessible and oh-so-60s/70s: expect mini skirts, maxi dresses, fur coats, retro floral prints and knee high boots aplenty. I can't wait to see her modern take on the classic style.
