Last week my mama was visiting over her birthday for a few days of nice dinners and exhibitions, so I took her to see the fabulous circus show Scotch & Soda at the Spiegeltent on the Southbank. I've seen quite a few cabaret shows like these over the years - I love the mix of live music and circus acts from trapeze, contortion, dance and acrobatics and this one is particularly mindblowing. The human body is amazing.
The brand new production is from the guys behind the Cantina show I saw in 2012, with a multi-talented cast featuring some of Australia's best acrobats and musicians. They switch between singing and playing horns, saxophones and makeshift instruments to swinging from ropes, piling up on a bike, catching each other mid-air and lots of gravity-defying balancing acts. And getting naked.
Head to the 1920s-style glamorous red tent at the London Wonderground for an evening of raucous and rowdy fun with Company 2 before it closes later this weekend.
