Mad Men for the first time this weekend (criminally behind the times, aren't I?) and the beautiful, mid-century fashion reminded me of one of my favourite editorials from US Vogue in recent years.
Delving into the archives, Sweater Girl from the September 2010 issue is shot by Mert & Marcus and features the bea-u-tiful Lara Stone in full 1950s housewife glory. Sweaters and girly knits are tucked into flared or slim pencil skirts nipped in at the waist to accentuate the Dutch supermodel's famous curves.
The classic palette focuses on caramel, muted jewel colours, feminine pastels and animal print, the accessories are tasteful; court shoes, pearls and black sunglasses and the hair is a modern take on vintage style; set in voluminous, bouncy curls. Prim, proper, preppy and perfect.
