Much like navy and black or red and pink, I'm rather partial to clashing different shades of blues and greens (and so loved Richard Nicoll's latest collection at London Fashion Week this February, featuring every shade of blue from baby to teal).
Since moving back from Paris last month (I still don't have internet at home, hence a rather quiet emmalouiselayla.com), I've been unearthing lots of wardrobe items I'd completely forgotten I had, like this old knitted H&M scarf I've had since I was a teenager and the royal blue, black and cream patterned dress I bought from Primark two summers ago. I had avoided the budget high street retailer for three years, vowing to stop shopping there for ethical reasons - both because of poor working conditions in its sweatshops and from the anti-throwaway fashion stance - but I slipped up whilst killing time round Bond Street one fateful day in 2012. Oh well. One item in five years isn't too bad for a recovering regular shopper.
Sticking with my genuine leather or suede rule, I'm wearing a patent leather croc effect handbag from a little Italian brand and black Giuseppe Zanotti-style cut out suede sandals from Zara. And shades because hello spring sun, we've missed you...
