Petit Bateau’s iconic T-shirt will be available with vintage, graphic and sailor prints from the French fashion house's archives. Famous for its children’s clothing and underwear since its founder, Etienne Valton, invented cotton pants in 1918, Petit Bateau reached a turning point in its history in 1994 with its short sleeve T-shirts which became a must-have for young and old alike - Karl Lagerfeld even sent Claudia Schiffer down the catwalk in a Petit Bateau kids' tee that same year.
Simple, timeless and universal, the Petit Bateau T-shirt is now a wardrobe staple that has spanned generations with over 4 million sold each year. The original T-shirt is short-sleeved with a round neck in soft, comfortable cotton knitted in the factories in Troyes, France.
Each season it takes on different shapes and colours but for the first time the classic model is printed with sea, cloud and boat motifs, alongside vests, sleeveless and long-sleeved tops. There are ten models in total available in adult sizes only. The collection photos feature Leyla Safai, the singer from the New York duo HeartsRevolution, posing with a kitsch crystal ice cream van and palm trees in a dreamy Californian summer.
Available from 3 July 2014 at petit-bateau.co.uk and in stores
