It's always a pleasure stepping into Tim Walker's whimsical world, and the V&A has plenty of it on show in a new solo exhibition on until March. The inventive British photographer has a killer imagination, creating some of the fashion world's most memorable imagery, playing with scale and colour, large installations and enchanting, fantastical themes.
Walker graduated in 1994 and moved to NYC to assist Richard Avedon, before returning to the UK and shooting his first Vogue fashion story at just 25. The exhibition delves into the creative process behind his work, and features the famous multicoloured cats and tree dresses, unique portraits of his favourite sitters Tilda Swinton, Kate Moss and Lily Cole, Vogue shoots, lots of his latest work I hadn't seen (including the inimitable Joanna Lumley as Ab Fab's Patsy) and ten brand new photographs inspired by the V&A. Fashion and photography lovers unite, and head to South Kensington.
Tim Walker: Wonderful Things, on at the Victoria & Albert Museum now until Sunday 8 March 2020
